Event Description

Monsters of the Unconscious The “monsters” of our current discontent, those we’re encountering in our culture, carry ripe opportunities for fantasies of the Apocalypse. The ground is cracking beneath us, foundations are shifting and “monsters” are rushing towards us. Carl Jung said these "monsters”, appearing at key moments of our psychological growth, bring vital messages and warnings about the psychological status quo. Presented by the C. G. Jung Association of Central Ohio, Dr. Carolyn Bates, Diplomate Jungian Analyst and practicing psychoanalyst in Austin, Texas, will explore “Monsters of the Unconscious” on April 13-14 (Friday evening and Saturday morning) at the Columbus Mennonite Church. Using lecture, film clips and group discussion Dr. Bates will explore how images and experiences present opportunities for individuation. Friday evening: We have met the Apocalypse and it is US. Saturday morning: Meeting the Monster Under the Bed: Archetypal Expressions of the Other reflected in Film, Dreams and Culture. Details, CEUs and registration information available at www.jungcentralohio.org or call 614-291-8050.
